Stephen Carter of Bethlehem, Pa. has been proved to be the man
to beat in the Pro/Elite Division, but during Thursday night finals
Pan American team member Joey Mantia gave him a run for his money
as the battled for gold. It was a fight to the end, but
Carter escaped victorious with Mantia right behind him in 2nd.
Julie Glass, also a Pan American team member, took gold in
the Pro/Elite Ladies 500 Meter Sprint and Mandi Howard of Roswell,
Ga. came in 2nd.
An new record was set in Junior Men 500 Meters by Chad Rigsby of
Roswell, Ga. Sara Sayasane of Milpitas Calif. skated off with
1st in the Junior Ladies 500 Meters with Alicia Taggert of Wichita,
Kan. taking 2nd.
Mindy Smith of High Point, N.C. took gold in the Senior Ladies
500 Meters with Ashley Mcleod coming in second. Jaamal Jones
of Roanoke Rapids, N.C. sped away with 1st while Bobby Brewster
took 2nd in the Senior Men 500 Meters.
