Attention Event Organizers!
Publicity For Your Event
story image 1

March 04, 2007

I would like to take this opportunity to inform you of the resources available to you, the event organizer from the USA Roller Sports website.  There are many resources that are available to you as the event organizer.

The process of having your event listed begins with the sanction.  Only sanctioned events are listed on the USA Roller Sports web site calendar.  Once you submit your sanction and it is approved, your event will be listed on the USA Roller Sports website calendar of events.

Additional publicity for your event can be created when you submit event details.  The most common submission would be your event packet that would normally be sent to clubs inviting them to your event.  Details can include entry deadlines, entry forms, host hotel information, event website, contact information and nearest airport for example.  Sometimes the meet information isn’t ready when you apply for the sanction, this is not a problem, just send in your meet packet/information when it is available and it will be added to your event listing.

This information will be published on the USA Roller Sports website under the appropriate discipline section.  USARollerSports.org receives on average of 1.5 million hits per month from over 30,000 visitors.  A link to your event information will also be included in the weekly USA Roller Sports Email News Blast which currently has over 6,000 subscribers.

How you submit your information will make a difference in how it is posted to the USA Roller Sports web site and the traffic it receives.  If you submit the information in a Microsoft Word document via email, the preferred method, it will be posted as a web page and can be indexed by the search engines thereby increasing visibility and traffic for your information.  If the information is printed and mailed or faxed in, an Adobe PDF will be created and the web page will simply link to this document.  (Depending on how the PDF is created determines whether or not the search engines can index the file – a PDF from a scanned document is not normally indexedable by the search engines)

After your event has concluded and you submit your results, the information will be placed on the website in the same method described above.  Remember that you must submit the results of your event even if you don’t want them posted to the web site.

This process should create a common location for meet information that will be a valuable resource for skaters and coaches to find out about your event and simplify the process of distributing that information.

It all depends on you, the event organizer for success.  Remember, it all starts with the sanction!
