The Cowboy Capital Rollergirls played to a pack house of 600+ fans Saturday night as the league debuted in their new home venue for the 2013 season, Lone Star Arena. The dirt was rolled and the sport court laid for what was to be a grudge match between the Cowboy Capital’s all star team the Pistol Annies and Cen-Tex Rollergirls Nightmares. The Pistol Annies controlled the first half with a half-time score of 89-56. Second half penalties though started adding up for the Pistol Annies as the Nightmares were able to put together four strong power jams by Big Country, Holy Smax, JoJo Jitt and Lizzy Misfit to close the gap.

The game came down to the last jam with the Pistol Annies Gillotine Grace and the Nightmares Holy Smax lining up behind the jammer line. The unofficial score going into the last jam was 133-133. Gillotine Grace was first off the line and first through the pack. She made it back through the pack for 2 points, calling it, leaving Holy Smax unable to pick up any. Official scores showed the game wasn’t quite as down to the wire as originally thought, ending with 138-133 in favor of the Cowboy Capital Rollergirls.

The opening bout featured the Cowboy Capital’s b-team the Bolt Action Betties facing off against the new skaters of Dallas Derby Devils. The Bolt Action Betties were able to remain relatively close to Dallas Derby Devils in the first half with a half-time score of 43-91 in favor of Dallas. The second half saw Dallas put together six solid jams scoring over ten points in each. The final score was 93-239 Dallas.
